Google shuts down Orkut today:

Here’s how to back up your photos, communities and scraps, tomorrow on-wards Orkut will not open. So you need to take backup data from Orkut, if you have.

Sign in with your Google/Orkut account, then go to the Google Data tool page (https://www.google.com/settings/datatools).Press “Manage Archives”

Click on the 'Create Archive' button.

Select the option ‘Orkut’ from the list of different Google services. Make sure you uncheck all the other options except Orkut. Press “Next”

Now, Select “File Type” & “Delivery Method” then click 'Create Archive' to download your Orkut profiles complete data.

The time for downloading your Orkut data depends on the size of your archive, i.e., the number of photos or scraps you've in your Orkut account.

Google (Orkut) will email you when your archive file is ready to download. Now check your mail.

That's it! You now have the backup of your Orkut account's data which includes profile information, scraps, testimonials, activities and photos you've uploaded

Desktop/Laptop Tune-up Tips

If you are running a System with Windows OS, you need to follow the below steps to tune-up your machine.

1) Install the following mother board drivers depending upon your system model

2) Update your system with the latest security patches from internet. Below is the process:

Go to “control panel” -> “System and Security” -> “Windows Update” -> “Check Updates” then select important updates and install them.

3) Update Antivirus software and run full scan at least once in every week. (Don’t install multiple antivirus software’s, because it will effect system performance. Sometimes system will respond very slowly because of this.)

4) Maintain clean desktop, because it affects the system performance. If you have many items on your desktop, system will run slowly. So delete unnecessary files form your desktop and move unused items from the desktop to another drives (“D” or “E”).  In case of system crash and you are unsure about restore process, you will lose all desktop items. So keep your data in other drives and create shortcuts on the desktop.

5) Uninstall unnecessary programs from your machine like toolbars, browser add-ons and Etc.

1)      Go to “Control Panel” -> press “Uninstall a Program” under “Programs” -> select unnecessary programs and uninstall those.

6) Remove unnecessary startup items

Go to “Run” -> type “msconfig” -> Select “Startup” tab -> uncheck unnecessary items from startup -> Press “OK”. It will ask restart machine, just select “ Exit without restart”

7) Delete temporary files from System

Go to “Run” and type these command one by one.  i.e. “temp”, “%temp%”, and “recent”

Also clean “Recycle Bin” items, if don’t need.

Go to “My Computer” and right click on “C” drive, select “Properties”.

Then click “Disk Cleanup” button, it will scan all the temporary files from your machine and will display the details below.

You can select check boxes required by you. My suggestion would be, select all check boxes then press “OK”(Before selecting all check boxes, you need to verify all the selected items)

8) Defragment all drives.

Go to “Control Panel” -> “System and Security” -> Select “Defragment your hard drive” under “Administrative Tools” -> “Configure Schedule” -> “Select All Disks...” (Select your feasible time for run this settings. Because system must be turned-on while running this configuration.) -> Press “OK”, it will run automatically, if you configure schedule time. If you want to run manually, just press “Defragment Disk”   

Once you are done with all the above steps, restart the machine and check your system performance.

Step 1 Preparation

1.1 If your computer does not come with a bootable DVD or BR device, you will need

To get an external DVD or bootable USB to continue.

Step 2 Step-by-step installation

2.1 Insert the Windows 7 Installation Disc into the external DVD/BD/USB reading device.

Turn on your computer.

2.2 During the boot up screen, press [F2 for Intel / Delete for other models] on your keyboard to enter BIOS. 

2.3 Once entered BIOS, choose the boot menu and change boot priority DVD/BD or USB reading device where you insert the installation device after save settings.

2.4 Press any key on your keyboard when you see the message to reboot from the

DVD or BD reading device.

2.5 After rebooting, you will see the Windows 7 Installation page. Follow the

Instruction by your own reference.

2.6 Click “Install now” to continue.

2.7 Check “I accept the license terms” and click “next”.

2.8 You need to choose “Custom” to continue, because we are going to install clean OS.

2.9 Click “Drive Option”.

2.10 If you need to create a new partition, you should click “New”. Otherwise,

Click “Next” to continue (jump to step 2.12)

2.11 Specify the size of your new partition and click “Apply”.

2.12 Windows will require a minimum space of 100MB. Click “OK” to proceed.

Product key in your disc package. (If not, please contact your disc providers.) You can still continue by click “next” to skip this step. You will need to provide a valid

Product key to activate your Windows 7 within 30 days after installation.

 3.4 Set up your “Windows Update” options. The default setting will be “Use

Recommended settings”.

3.5 set up your preferred time zone, time and date.

3.6 Once the Windows 7 desktop shows, your installation is complete.
